This past winter we had 4 days of community connection, cultural emersion and celebration in the nearby traditional Mayan community of Dos Plamas! Community members from Campamento Hidalgo made a 2-hour journey to join us and share their cultural heritage with us. After many service projects at the school, we were treated to a traditional Mayan meal and music performance by the children. Guests participated in arts and crafts, tortilla making, mural painting and a traditional Temazcal ceremony. We also had the opportunity to take a swim in a cenote to cool off at the end of afternoon.
