Positive Legacy is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to integrate music and service to benefit people and the environment. Working in conjunction with Cloud 9 Adventures, Positive Legacy coordinates service projects for destination events in many different countries. Fueled by the power of music, and a passion for sustainability, Positive Legacy strives to transcend cultural boundaries by learning about the needs and aspirations of the communities we visit and serving them with action from musicians and fans!
Check out all the GOOD Positive Legacy did at Dominican Holidaze:
We had a very meaningful Day of Service in the village of Domingo Maiz, Veron where we have been working on a long term clean water and waste management project for the past six years. We began the day by touring the now fully functional black water bio-filtration system as well as the site for the next phase of potable water. We continued our morning by grouping local youth with community elders and Positive Legacy volunteers to clean the streets in the central area of the village, while others worked with the children to re-paint a community mural.
When that work was done, we enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation chefs, while a local meringue band entertained the group. We also gifted the school and medical donation drive supplies brought by the Holidaze fans. Lastly, after lunch we began the prototype for the three stream waste management stations, to introduce recycling/composting to the village, which will be completed at our next event here in March. The day closed out with dancing and games as we celebrated our cultural connection. We would like to thank our partners for hosting us, the Dominican Holidaze fans for joining us and the community members for participating in a memorable day.
We are pleased to announce that Positive Legacy was able to raise $12,602 in this year’s charity auction! Auction proceeds will support Positive Legacy’s continued environmental & humanitarian projects in the DR such as the forth coming potable water system. Thank you to all of the Domincan Holidaze fans who bid in the auction. A special thank you to the musicians and their management, the fans/artists for supporting the auction with their custom donations, and Josh Timmermans and Dave Vann for their amazing photography. We had a special treat with Lyle and Ryan from The Motet providing the auction entertainment, and much appreciation goes out to Lyle for guest auctioneering and making it an auction to remember. Also big thanks go out to our guest Mystery Mixologist bartenders Brendan Bayliss, Joel Cummins and Aron Magner who spent some time behind the bar earning tips for Positive Legacy during the auction festivities.
A special thank you must go out to this year’s hosts with the mosts for creating a very entertaining BINGO afternoon benefiting Positive Legacy. Thank you to all of you who joined in the fun and supported the cause and congratulations to all the winner.
Thank you to everyone that donated to the Positive Legacy donation drive this year! The donations were provided to our partners at the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation for community distribution. Your donations will make the children’s holidays a little brighter. We thank you for that!
Positive Legacy and Trees, Water & People made it easy to travel responsibly, by offsetting the emissions from your travel to Dominican Republic for Dominican Holidaze. We appreciate those that donated and your generosity helped to fund tree planting and clean cookstove construction in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Cuba. If you were unable to offset you footprint at the event, please take this opportunity to feel empowered post event and leave your own positive legacy …because every party has an impact!
