January 20-24, 2014 • Costa Maya, Mexico

Paradise Waits 2014 Recap

Day of Service

Positive Legacy partnered with Reef National Park of Puerto Morelos for an amazing Day of Service with Paradise Waits fans. We experienced the underwater wonders of the area 📷by snorkeling in the reef, sampled the invasive species lionfish ceviche, and got our hands dirty chipping wood into compost & planting shrubs along the dunes. Local students set up information stations & presentations on programs to reduce waste & sustain the coastal ecosystems of Puerto Morelos. The day ended with live music & dancing by local artists. Thank you to all who came along on this inspiring adventure!

Charity Auction

📷The live and silent auctions at Paradise Waits were a huge success! We auctioned off two guitars autographed by Phil Lesh & Bob Weir, a rockin’ custom cape from Super Rad Cap Co, and dozens of photos donated by Dave Vann &Josh Timmermans. All in all, we raised over $32,000 for Further Foundation and Positive Legacy’s humanitarian and environmental projects in the region.

Donation Drive📷

Thank you to all of you who remembered to pack some school supplies & sports equipment in your suitcases this past week! These items were donated to two very appreciative local schools in Puerto Morelos, whom were both very grateful for the much needed supplies.  Your contributions will go to great use for months to come!

Carbon Offsets

Gracias to Paradise Waits patrons who traveled responsibly, by offsetting the emissions from your travel to Riviera Maya for Paradise Waits! A $15 carbon offset donation helps a Guatemalan family reduce their firewood consumption by 50%, helps a Haitian family plant fruit trees that will nourish their children and generate income, and helps a Honduran family switch from Kerosene lanterns to clean solar lighting. If you haven’t already, it’s not too late to leave a positive impact on your Cloud 9 Adventure this year  offset your carbon footprint with Trees, Water & People!
